How We Grow and Extract Our CBD Oil

With so many different products on the market today, it is hard to know what US hemp companies stand out above the rest in terms of quality and customer service. CBD is our passion. We have made it our mission to create access to CBD for as many people as possible. It is also our passion to educate people on cannabis, whether they purchase our products or not. We are a small family business that wants to show the world how CBD oil is made, and how to extract CBD as we do. Not all CBD products are created equal, and we want to make sure you don’t have to discover that the hard way.

How CBD grows

The most important thing when it comes to creating a quality hemp product is the growing process. It is impossible to make quality CBD oils without carefully growing quality hemp plants. USA Hemp Company’s farm is located in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. This area is known for its fertile soil, abundant rainfall, and world-famous wines. It is the perfect place to grow beautiful and healthy hemp plants. Our rescue animals love it here, too.

In addition to growing the best hemp flower Oregon has to offer, our farm is also home to dozens of rescue animals. Our dairy bulls, alpacas, and pitbulls absolutely love frolicing between the rows of CBD plants.

Why we grow everything we make

Every single molecule of CBD going into our hemp products grows right here on our farm. We integrated the entire process to ensure the quality and potency of our CBD oils. A healthy and happy plant, grown from good genetics, is how good CBD oil is made.

How to extract CBD is also important, but careful growth from good genetics is the main key. Every bud you get in our hemp flower packages grows and cures on our farm. Every milligram of CBD oil extract in our CBD oils, CBD capsules, CBD bath bombs, and THC-free CBD gummies for kids comes from our premium flower.

How we harvest hemp plants

Harvesting the hemp plants is also very important for the appearance of CBD flower buds, and also for overall potency. Did you know that the harvest method actually impacts the percentage of CBD in the final product? USA Hemp Company farmers spent the last several years developing and testing growing methods.

They tested several methods to determine the most efficient and effective way to harvest large amounts of hemp plants. Hemp farming is a careful balance between treating your plants well and balancing resources. The different methods we tested include:

Wet processing vs dry processing hemp

We tested several methods to determine the most effective method to harvest hemp on an industrial scale. Wet processing means processing the hemp plants to make CBD oil without letting the plant dry and cure beforehand. Therefore, the plants are still “wet.”

Dry processing is a much more effective method for yielding high CBD content. We noticed a significant difference between the two methods. Therefore, a company that cuts corners and doesn’t take time with the harvest and curing will have a lower quality product.

How is CBD oil made?

After the combine machine processes our CBD plants, it is time to dry and cure it before becoming CBD oil. We use an industrial dryer to dry our hemp flower, and a machine turns it into perfect little hemp pellets for extraction.

Most of the goodness hemp has to offer is contained within the cannabidiol, or CBD, molecules in the plant structure. These CBD molecules are oily when extracted with minimal processing. This is why CBD oils are often the purest form of CBD intake.

How to extract CBD oil

We use CO2, or carbon dioxide, to extract our CBD. CO2 extraction is the purest and least invasive way to extract the beneficial cannabinoids and terpenes of the hemp plant material. Overprocessing leads to the destruction of the cannabinoid molecules and weakens the overall potency. We extract the pure CBD oil and provide lab reports to attest to their purity.

Full spectrum vs broad spectrum CBD

Full spectrum CBD oils extracted with CO2 contain the most cannabinoids, but also contain up to a 0.3% THC content. All of our products, with the exception of the THC-free CBD gummies for kids are full spectrum.

Full spectrum CBD oils

Full spectrum CBD oil will contain the highest levels of CBD, terpenes, and very small amounts of THC. THC  is the psychoactive component of cannabis and hemp, but is not enough to intoxicate at 0.3% or less. However, not everyone wants to take THC, and it is still illegal to consume full spectrum products in some areas.

To recap, CBD oil is made by:

  • growing the finest plants in the finest soil
  • carefully tending the growing and harvesting process
  • tenderly drying and curing the plant material
  • and extracting the CBD oils with only pure CO2
