CBD Dosing Guide

How Much CBD Should I Take?

Whether you’re a first-time user or an experienced CBD oil consumer, understanding how much CBD oil you should take can be somewhat confusing. Every day we answer a variety of questions about the wonder that is CBD, but one of the most frequently asked questions we receive is one of the hardest to find an answer to: how much CBD should I take?

How much CBD should I take?

Many consumers, perhaps even you yourself, have been blindly experimenting with CBD dosage to determine what’s right for them. While that may have worked for some in the past, it’s time to get more official. Before we begin, it’s important to note that all of our bodies are uniquely different. What works for you may not work for us, and vice versa. Finding the right product and dosage for your needs takes experimentation.

How much CBD you should take depends on:
  • your intended effects
  • your weight
  • your metabolism
  • your current diet
  • other supplements and medications

To help give our shoppers a better starting point we’ve compiled data from CBD consumers worldwide to determine what dosage is best for our consumers. If you are concerned about the effects of CBD and any potential interactions with current medications, always talk to your trusted care provider before incorporating anything new into your wellness regimen.

Can I overdose on CBD?

Can you take too much CBD? No, you cannot overdose on CBD. There have been absolutely no cases of overdose on marijuana or cannabis. Our full-spectrum CBD products contain less than 0.3% THC and are not psychoactive, and you can not become chemically addicted to CBD. Our vegan gummies are completely THC-free. Therefore, you cannot overdose or become intoxicated with our CBD oil. CBD with a THC content of less than 0.3% THC is legal in the United States under the 2018 Farm Bill. Our CBD products are safe to ship anywhere in the 50 contiguous states, and our THC-free gummies pose no risk of complications with drug tests.

How do I figure out how much CBD to take?

If you are wondering what is the best CBD ratio for pain or any other ailment, follow our table below. See our other product guides to learn more about the best time to take CBD oil, how does CBD make you feel, and more.

Our data helped us determine the 2, 4, 6, 8 Method. In simple terms, for every 10lbs of body mass an individual will need to multiply that number by 2, 4, 6, or 8 mg of CBD per day depending on the desired effects. We recommend dividing this dosage into 2 servings per day, although taking 1 larger serving has been shown to provide comparable results.

If it is your first time taking CBD or cannabis hemp products, start your dosage out small and increase from there. Remember, you cannot become high or intoxicated from CBD, and you cannot overdose. However, taking too much could cause inconvenient or unwanted effects such as drowsiness.

Looking for a recommended dosage for your pet? Use this same formula to determine how much CBD oil to give to your furry friends.
CBD Dosing Chart:
  • 2mg / 10lb = Overall well-being. Individuals looking to incorporate CBD for wellness should of 2mg per 10lbs of body weight.
  • 4mg / 10lbs = Mild pain. Individuals with mild pain should start with 4mg per 10lbs of body weight per day and adjust dosage as needed.
  • 6mg / 10lbs = Moderate pain. Those who have persistent or moderate pain should start at a dosage of 6mg per 10 lbs of body weight per day.
  • 8mg / 10lbs = Severe pain. For consumers facing severe or debilitating pain, we recommend starting with 8mg per 10lbs body weight for 3 days and assessing the pain level to determine whether more CBD is needed. Some individuals may need a much larger dosage to achieve the desired effects. While there is no risk of overdosing on CBD we do not recommend taking more than 300mg per day as it can cause the user to feel groggy.

Still a little confused? Use this equation to help find your dose:

[weight / 10] x [2, 4, 6, or 8] = [perfect dose!]

i.e: 200/10= 20. 20*4=80. For moderate pain a 200lb person should take 80mg CBD a day.

How to read CBD product labels

So now you’ve got your recommended CBD oil dosage, but how do you know the exact amount of CBD you’re taking? With all lab reports published online, our consumers don’t have to guess exactly how much CBD is in their bottle. You can also find the amount of mg in the nutritional label on all products. Most products are not pure CBD and contain a carrier agent such as MCT oil. Therefore, it is important to look for how many milligrams of CBD is in each serving.
